2023 Elections: Who Will Represent APC At The Presidential Election

In the last few weeks, we have seen the race for the Presidential Election gain some momentum amongst intended participants. Still, one that has gathered attention is the All Progressive Party Presidential Ticket.

According to several reports, Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo might be declaring his intent to run for the Presidency at the coming 2023 General Elections, which will come shortly after Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has expressed his interest to become the next Nigerian President.

According to TheCableNG, there is a widening gulf between both aspirants from 2015 t0 2023, which Asiwaju strategically planned before the 2015 elections, which will see him contest in 2023. However, reports are surrounding the decision as some major political stakeholders believe Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is the best candidate for the All Progressive Congress Party. Also, The CableNG feels In the run-up to the 2015 elections, when the newly formed All Progressive Congress Party (APC) having elected Muhammadu Buhari as their presidential candidate at the party’s first convention in Lagos, grandees of the party were trying to select who to run with him. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had played a significant part in the merger of the political parties that formed the APC and in swinging the votes of the southwest delegates to enable Buhari to clinch the party presidential nomination wanted the position. He wanted it as a reward for his efforts. He put him in pole position to eventually succeed Muhammadu Buhari at the end of his probable constitutionally allowed eight-year tenure should he win the 2015 elections. And Asiwaju Tinubu was not only adamant on his demands, but he was also, as some party insiders say, willing to break the party if he was not allowed to have his way.

However the case may be, we await the outcome of the exciting time.
